I have been riding, training horses, and training riders for over 50 years.  The following information shows the range of my experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE: The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, ( The Life Guards )

1964 -1965: I underwent 6 months military training at Combermere Bcks., Windsor.  The course included M.T. & Ceremonial Dismounted. Continued training at Hyde Park Bchs., for 20 weeks to qualify as a Mounted Dutyman.  This involved an intensive riding course, stable management & general horse care.  Passed out top of course of 32 pupils.

1965 -1967: Joined The Life Guard Squadron, as a Mounted Dutyman involved in such parades as Changing of The Queens Life Guard, Trooping The Colour, Opening of Parliament and Sovereigns Escorts.  At the end of first year I was awarded The Queen Elizabeth Cup for Best Turned Out on Q.L.G.  Promoted to L /Cpl. (youngest ever in Regiment).

1967 -1968: Promoted to L/CoH. and selected to attend a six-month equitation course at Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, to be trained as a horse trainer and riding instructor.  Upon completion, I joined the riding staff at Knightsbridge.

1968 - 1972: Worked as instructor & remount trainer from novice to advanced levels. lnstructed at the Badsworth and Grove Pony Club Summer Camps for 15 years. Competed in both Showjumping & Eventing Competitions with good success.

1972 -1974: Posted to R.M.A. Sandhurst as CO in charge of 40 horses, stable management and all instruction, plus acting as Military Liaison Officer between Princess Anne and Army, whilst she stabled her horses at R.M.A. Sandhurst.

1974 -1977: Promoted to S/Cpl. in charge of ceremonial instruction of horses and riders in their later stages of training, as basis for ceremonial.
1974 - 1978 Part-owner of riding centre run by Celia, built up from 6 ponies to forty horses and ponies.

1977 -1983: Promoted to W0.2 (youngest ever in regiment), working from Windsor during winter.  In charge of 150 stables for all primary instruction of both horses and riders during summer months' ceremonial in London. 1981 moved to The Life Guard Squadron as Squadron Cpl/Maj., responsible for all administration of 130 horses and soldiers under direct control of the Squadron Leader. During this period I had the task of bringing the Squadron back on track after a terrorist bombing on the QLG, loosing 3 members of the Blues & Royals and 7 horses.

1983 -1990: Commissioned to Lt. Riding Master of The Household Cavalry Regiment (only one in British Army) responsible for all training of horses and riders, from complete beginner to capable of riding on all ceremonial parades. Training approx. 45 unbroken horses and 150 trainee riders per year with a staff of 10 instructors.  I created a Musical Ride for the 90's which has become world famous.  I have also been instrumental in creating other equine displays for civilian riding clubs, such as the Pony Club of Great Britain Activity Ride that has performed at most major shows in UK as well as at the famous Hanoverian Sales in Verdon, Germany.  I have visited Jordan and Oman as adviser to their ceremonial stables prior to parades or displays in front of world leaders and equine experts.
